Just by opening your smart phone, you can listen your favorite
music wherever you would like.
But listening in one specific place may change your whole
experience. It can’t be just anywhere.
For example, when you discover a local folk song which has been
passed down over time in the area it came from or when you happen
across a song about the area itself. These songs become your
trip’s personal theme songs and every time you hear that song, you
relive the feelings of that trip again.
SOUND TRIP is a project in which artists take the sounds of the local area and create a unique “musical journey,” you can only experience in that place. This is an experiment that pushes the limits of how much music can influence your trip. These guides use sounds that relate to that area, and experiencing this in that space truly makes it meaningful. These experiences are developed with temples and shrines in mind. As the artwork of Eitoku Kanou and Tohoku Hasegawa’s being displayed in temples attests to, Temples are and always have been a gathering place for culture, and a tradition is just an accumulation of the avant-garde.
Use these experiences as a clue as you search for the story behind this place. We hope, more than anything, that this music will become your theme song for this trip.
